Planning to Go Direct? 2014 Chicago Event

After a successful inaugural event in New York City, we decided to take our Going Direct Road Show to Chicago on September 17th.  Over 50 insurance executives came to hear about Bolt's proprietary research, analyst perspectives, as well as best practices, tactics and strategies of those who have successfully used the direct channel to become more customer-centric, improve the bottom line, and establish and maintain long-term and profitable client relationships.

The event speakers were Mike Fitzgerald, Senior Analyst at Celent, Tom Hammond, EVP at Bolt Insurance, and Tim Attia, EVP Sales & Marketing at Bolt Solutions. Each speaker gave a thought-provoking presentation about the benefits of going direct. Mike Fitzgerald started off the event discussing current distribution trends, changing customer expectations related to distribution, and the importance of customer experience. Next up was Tom Hammond who shared some of the knowledge he’s gained through his experience developing Bolt Insurance. Bolt Insurance has done extensive research on distribution and going direct so Tom was able to provide great insight into what consumers really want when they’re shopping for insurance. Tim Attia ended the event with a discussion about the changes in customer buying behavior, the customer’s need for choice, and the importance of being able to accommodate customers’ needs across every channel. He also discussed how the Bolt Platform is helping carriers, MGAs, and wholesalers meet the needs of all their customers.

There was also a brief presentation from our friend Shefi Ben Hutta who is the founder of the new website Insurance Entertainment ( Insurance Entertainment is a source for news, information & resources to engage people on the subject of insurance in a trendy, comical way. The site is full of interesting reads about the insurance industry, funny insurance-related comics, and information on current technology and social media trends and how they relate to insurance.

After the event, all the attendees were invited to the Skybox on Sheffield rooftop suite to watch the Chicago Cubs take on the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field. This was a great opportunity for attendees to mingle in a fun, relaxed setting and a Cubs victory rounded out a great day.
